At This Conference, We Present the Abakus Methodology — Built on a Centuries-Old Technique, Adapted for Modern Schools
Mental arithmetic traces back to ancient China, where court scholars and mathematicians used the abacus to perform complex calculations entirely in the mind — a skill once reserved for the educated elite. Today, this same technique — based on the Japanese soroban (abacus) — helps children visualize numbers and calculate intuitively, without calculators, paper or other tools.
Abakus School has developed a unique method that develops critical thinking, logics and math skills and consists of:

What Is Mental Arithmetic?
Mental arithmetic is a method of rapid calculation performed entirely in the mind, without calculators, paper or other tools. It's based on the Japanese soroban (abacus) technique, helping children visualize numbers and manipulate them intuitively.
